Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endwas one of the surprise hits of the 2023-2024 anime season, stunning fans with its beauty and thoughtful storytelling. Now, fans finally know when the second season will hit, and it’s surprisingly close.
AtAnime Expo 2025, it was announced on stage thatFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endwould be returning for season 2 in January 2026, making the return far sooner than anyone expected. On stage was Stark’s voice actor, Chiaki Kobayashi, producer Yuichiro Fukushi, and the series composer, Evan Call. Stark’s voice actor indicated that he was very excited for the series' return, and Stark’s role in season 2.
Composer Evan Call had noted that he had already traveled to Budapest as part of the recording of the music for season 2, indicating that production is pretty far along. A trailer for season 2 was shown in the panel, but hasn’t been released publicly yet.

Fans have been extremely excited at the prospect of moreFrieren, and have eagerly awaited an announcement of season 2, making it perhaps one of the most anticipated second seasons of any recent anime. It has also beenconfirmed that season 2 will be coming to Crunchyrolloutside of Japan.
Frieren did extremely well at the anime awards, nominated for Best Anime of the Year (and was unfortunately beaten out bySolo Leveling). Despite the series' success, some of its creators have been in disbelief at just how popular it has gotten. What was only a few years ago regarded as an underrated cult hit manga is now a mainstream success story.
What’s in Store for Frieren Season 2?
Season 2 Will Feature More Fantasy Action
The second season ofFrierenis likely to adapt the next manga arc, known as the “Continued Northern Travels” arc, followed by the intriguingly named “Divine Revolte” arc, and finally will move into the “Golden Land” arc. The Golden Land arc is particularly highly anticipated by fans, and its ending could set up an extremely dramatic cliffhanger moving into season 3.
Hopefully,Frierenseason 2 will be able to live up to the absurdly high bar set by its first season. The second season is sure to be a success if that’s the case, and the story has plenty of upcoming twists and turns to keep people engaged.
