Warning: Major spoilers for FUBAR season 2 finale “Let’s Twist Again” below!Season 2 of Netflix’sFUBARends in a suitably explosive fashion, with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Luke uncovering the shock identity of mysterious terrorist Dante Cress.FUBAR’sseason 2finale opens with Luke and his team racing against time to stop a nuclear missile being launched, which could spark a war with Russia. After learning that rogue MI6 agent Chips (Guy Burnet) was Cress the entire time, they manage to sabotage the missile, preventing it from leaving the atmosphere. Cress is fried when the missile launches, while Luke’s former flame Greta (Carrie-Anne Moss) seemingly dies after ruining the missile from within.
Miraculously, Greta survives the missile’s crash landing, and Luke and Emma (Monica Barbaro) fake her death so she can be free.FUBAR’s"Let’s Twist Again" closes with Luke and his family being allowed to go home after the CIA deems the threats against them are over. Thus,Luke proposes to ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio), while Roo (Fortune Feimster) becomes regional director of the CIA. The episode ends with Barry (Milan Carter) deciding to break his traitorous girlfriend Tina (Aparna Brielle) out of Russia - a mission that sets up big stakes for season 3.

Why Dante Cress Pretended To Be Part Of The Team
Chips/Cress was nothing if not ambitious
Burnet is a great addition tothe cast ofFUBAR, with Chips being an undeniably charming - if somewhat annoying - secret agent with designs on wooing Emma.Chips appears to switch to the side of good after starting the season as an antagonist, only for “Let’s Twist Again” to reveal he was Dante Cressall along. Chips/Cress infiltrated the group both as a way of keeping track of their activities and to spin events to his own advantage. Throughout the series, his actions both aided and worked against Luke’s team.
Looking back overFUBARseason 2, Cress' plan doesn’t fully track logically; for example, Chips left the entire team to be executed by his men in episode 2, and there was no way he could have known they’d figure a way out. Regardless, the Chips/Cress reveal is a fun rug pull, and one that pays off his character.Chips also reveals why he wanted to destroy the world, recalling how his father died on a mission that involved covering up a sex scandalinvolving a politician.

After the mission went wrong, his father tried to kill him, forcing Chips to kill him in self-defence.Deciding the world was a horrible place and needed a major reset, Chips decided that sparking a nuclear war was the best optionavailable. Chips was serious about his feelings for Emma and wanted her to join him in a nuclear bunker; instead, they fight to the death inside the silo, and she watches as Chips is annihilated by the missile’s launch. Or, as Roo puts it, “Barbecue chips!”
Cress' Power Grid Plan Was An Elaborate Fakeout
A blackout was only one part of the FUBAR villain’s scheme
The main threat ofFUBARseason 2 involved Luke’s former flame Greta being hired by Cress to knock out America’s power grid. Greta’s goal is to destroy four power plants, starting a domino effect that will lead to a total blackout across the country. Should the U.S. be left without power, this would lead the economy to crash and the nation would be left wide open to invasion. All of these things are bad, butthe finale reveals the power grid plan was really a ruse to activate the nation’s nukes.
Carrie-Anne Moss almost co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger years earlier inTerminator 3: Rise of the Machines, where she was considered for the villain T-X.

These missiles are primed to go online should the country’s power fail completely, with the presumption being that the nation is under attack. Chips also managed to block satellite communication with Russia, so once the missiles were primed, they would assume a nuclear war is imminent and respond accordingly. It’s a bold gambit on Chips' part, and it’s all going well until Luke’s team manages to take the other missiles offlineand render the last remaining nuke inactive.
How Greta Survived Her Heroic “Sacrifice”
FUBAR’s foam grenade sure came in useful
While Greta is largely played as a cartoonish parody of a femme fatale, the show makes it clear she truly loves Luke and wants to be with him. When it becomes clear somebody needs to sabotage the final missile, Greta tells Luke it can’t be him, as he already has a family. Soon, the missile launches with Greta inside and she succeeds in bringing it crashing down.Luke and Emma later arrive at the crash site, and Greta is revealed to be alive after using a form grenade to shield herselffrom the impact.
Despite helping Cress throughoutFUBARseason 2 and causing many deaths,Luke and Emma decide Greta is good at heart and help fake her death. It doesn’t feel like this is setting up her return for a potential third season, but the showrunners now have wiggle room to bring Moss back if Greta proves popular with audiences.

Why Luke Retires From The CIA
Luke terminates his contract with the CIA
The closing scenes ofFUBAR’s"Let’s Twist Again" sees Luke’s team celebrating the end of the mission and the fact they can finally go home. Luke also takes this moment to announce that after decades of loyal service - and putting the job before his family - he’s retiring from the CIA.FUBARcontinues its romantic streakwhen Luke proposes to Tally, whom he plans to remarry and go sailing with.
Luke also trusts that his team, under new boss Roo, can keep the world safe without him. This suggestsSchwarzenegger’s Luke could take more of a backseat ifFUBARseason 3 happens, or could become a supporting player. Considering the show is sold on Arnie’s star power, it’s doubtful he’s actually leaving the series, though.

FUBAR Season 2 Doesn’t End Happily For Everyone
Maybe FUBAR’s Carter and Donnie will get their own spinoff
With Luke and Tally set to remarry and Roo receiving her promotion,FUBAR’sseason 2 ending ismostlyupbeat. That’s not so much the case for Emma’s ex-boyfriend Carter (Jay Baruchel) and Tally’s former fiancé, Donnie (Andy Buckley). Both have essentially had their lives ruined due to their links to the Brunner family and, after a wild escapade that involved them wandering into a drug deal and accidentally killing a criminal biker, they’re forced to go into hiding.
Carter and Donnie’s final scene in FUBAR sees them shipped off on a fishing trawler to Greenland, presumably for years to come…

Carter and Donnie’s final scene sees them shipped off on a fishing trawler to Greenland, presumably for years to come. Meanwhile, Barry (Milan Carter) is also reeling from the discovery that his girlfriend Tina (Aparna Brielle) was a Russian mole, and in the final scenes, he and Aldon (Travis Van Winkle) hand her over as part of a prisoner exchange. Tina previously denied having ever loved Barry despite his belief otherwise, but when he learns she was feeding the Russians false intel, he realizes his belief was totally right.
How FUBAR Season 2’s Final Scene Sets Up Season 3
The FUBAR crew is heading to Russia!
The closing scene ofFUBARseason 2 has Barry realize Tina really was on their side, and is sacrificing herself to save them. Barry and Aldon tell Roo they’re turning back to save Tina, which means heading to Russia. Of course, this risks a major international incident - which isn’t something Roo wants to deal with on her first day as boss.
Regardless,it looks likeFUBARseason 3 will involve the team heading to Russia to save Tina, which will no doubt lead to some fallout. Again, it will be interesting to see how Arnie’s Luke will be pulled into proceedings, though he may find retirement a little dull and begin to crave some action again.
