General Hospitalis recasting a veteran performer, though there’s an important caveat. The iconic daytime staple has several long-standing performers. But as is often the case with the genre, characters change actors from time to time in acommon soap trope. What is somewhat less frequent, though, is for actors to largely remain synonymous with the role despite occasional alterations.
That continues to be the case withGeneral Hospital’s Kirsten Storms, asTV Insiderreports that the actor istemporarily being replaced in the role of Maxie Jones due to a scheduling conflict. Storms, aGHveteran who first joined the ABC sudser in 2005, will be replaced by Nicole Paggi.

It marks the second time that Paggi has stepped in for Storms, after doing so for a few episodes in 2023 and 2024. Paggi, whose previous credits include9-1-1andCSI, will appear on July 30 and August 13.Storms will returnon the week of August 18. It should be noted thatGeneral Hospitalis currently off.
What This Means For General Hospital
Another Quick Shift
Storms did not originate the role of Maxie. The daughter of soap super couple Frisco Jones and Felicia Cummings was played by a number of child actors. Robyn Richards had the role, with a brief break in 2002, for almost a decade. But since taking over as Maxie, Stroms has made the role her own and remained a constant in the eyes of fans.
The actor was already beloved, thanks to her years onDays of Our Livesas Belle Black, which added a lot of anticipation when she debuted on the rival soap. Two decades later, she’s still a significant presence and part ofthe coreGeneral Hospitalcast, and the one who has played Maxie the longest.
Part of the need for the brief change is that soaps film multiple episodes in one stretch, which is why Paggi will have a second small stint on the seminal daytime series to push Maxie’s story forward.
Our Take On Maxie’s General Hospital Switch
It Won’t Be A Big Adjustment
The soap isn’t looking to launch Paggi to take over the role of Maxie on a full-time basis. ABC has confirmed that the switch-up is only temporary, allowing Maxie to remain involved in ongoing stories by the time Storms makes her way back toGeneral Hospitalin August. By all accounts, going by the history of Port Charles, there will be chaos awaiting her.
