One major mystery ofGhostsis set to be explored in the upcoming season 5. One tease coming from theGhostspanel at San Diego Comic-Con, whichScreenRant’s Rachel Foertsch attended, promises to finally explore “the others,” who Patience briefly mentioned inGhostsseason 4before returning to the dirt.
While the spirits at Woodstone Mansion and beyond have been explored inGhostsseasons 1 to 4, the “others” Patience refers to are wholly unknown. Having met them in the ground surrounding the mansion also hints at an entirely different group of spirits from what was encountered before, or maybe something else entirely.
Ghostsseason 5finally exploring them after just a brief mention of them in season 4 thus has the potential of introducing something never seen before in the supernatural sitcom, possibly enlargingGhosts’ universe as we know it.

Revealing What “The Others” Are Can Be A New Frontier For Ghosts
Patience’s existence was already somewhat extraordinary when she was introduced inGhostsseason 3’s finale. Besides the fact that her arrival at the mansion coincided with her kidnapping of Isaac, Patience’s residence was unexpected. Indeed, it upended the established rule of floors blocking spirits from falling but walls not doing the same, by treating the ground outside as walls.
Her connection to Flower’s predicament in the well also led to the assumption that her time had likely been spent alone, due to Patience originally being lost in the dirt. However,her nonchalant reference to “others” to return to opens a whole new door that season 4 didn’t explore, nor mention again when Patience reappeared inGhostsseason 4’s ending.
Ghostsseason 5 promising to explore who - or what - the “others” are has the possibility to solve a major mystery either way, whether they are figments of Patience’s imagination – and that would massively expand Patience’s story – or a whole new group of spirits.
The only comments about the “others” were Thor, Pete, Alberta and Trevor’s in reaction to Patience’s sentence inGhostsseason 4, episode 3’s very ending.
The second option would be far more interesting,as they could bear similarities with Patience in the worst way possible, due to their having been lost to the dirt potentially for centuriesbefore learning how to navigate it. With Patience alone causing chaos inGhostsseason 4, a horde of spirits like her could cause much more damage.

It Can Make The Universe Introduced In Ghosts Much Larger
It’s unknown what the “others” really are, and Patience not mentioning them again inGhostsseason 4 was what created them the sitcom’s biggest mystery to date. However,San Diego Comic-Con 2025’s tease of season 5 finally tackling them promises a better understanding of theGhostsuniverse.
Ghostsseason 5 premieres on CBS at 8:30pm ET on Thursday, August 03, 2025.
Hopefully, that means different beings, beyond the ghosts and poltergeists thatGhostsalready introduced. This could make the world created by CBS’sGhostseven bigger and even more interesting to explore in the future.
