God of Warrebooted the series in 2018, including bringing an entirely new combat system that played drastically different from the original trilogy. While fan reception to the new combat was mixed, oneGod of Warplayer has shown some new tech they developed that drastically changes it by allowing Kratos to dual wield.
2018’sGod of Warstarted Kratos off with an entirely new weapon, the Leviathan Axe. Throughout the game, Kratos also could use his fists while getting access to a shield and his iconic Blades of Chaos, which all played very differently.God of Waralso brought the new Talisman systemto better allow players to customize their fighting style.

However, Reddit user haseebbasit’s dual-wielding tech opens up even more possibilities. The gif posted to the game’s subreddit is very brief, but it does show Kratos wielding the various weapons of his arsenal in some interesting new ways. This includes using Blades of Chaos attacks with his fists while also equipping the shield with his Blades in an entirely new way. The gif does not show Kratos wieldingGod of War’s now-iconic Leviathan Axe, but it is not hard to imagine just how powerful it would be paired with a Blade in the offhand or some other combination.
It is cool that hasseebbasit’s method can be recreated by anyGod of Warplayer, and it looks like a fun experiment for fans to try while playing the game. Of course, nothing is known about whatweapons Kratos will wield inGod of War’s sequel, but it would be interesting to see it feature a more official dual wield system similar to what haseebbasit has found. With the sequel being delayed until next year, however,God of Warfans likely have a while yet to wait to see what the sequel holds.
God of Waris available now on PlayStation 4.
