Polyphony Digital officially announcesGran Turismo 7for PS5. The game wasleaked several weeks ago by a racing game accessory manufacturerbut the developer took to the PS5 reveal event to officially confirm the game.
Not much is known aboutGran Turismo 7other than it will look extremely good. ThePS5 specsdo offer support for ray-tracing and it’s very possible that Polyphony, which is famous for its incredibly detailed recreations of vehicles, will be using that in its game.

The game is also likely to make use of the haptic feedback technology in thePS5’s DualSense controller. The controller allows players to get a more physical sense of a game, as developers can use it for far more than the rumbles and basic vibrations that were possible with the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller.
AGran Turismo 7career mode was also teased with a very short look at a map overview with several different icons on it. Polyphony didn’t offer any information about what to expect but theGran Turismoseries has typically featured a variety of races and car categories and that’s probably the plan here.
Unfortunately, noGran Turismo 7release date was given. It seems unlikely that the game will be a PS5 launch title like the likes ofFortnite, which has been confirmed as a launch title for PS5 and Xbox Series X. This doesn’t make it any less of an important game for the console’s strategy though asGran Turismo 7could help to really flex the PS5’s graphical strength. ThePS5’s fast SSDcould really help with the smaller details often seen on the cars in the series.
PS5 players will have their choice of racing games in the first year after the console’s launch. Last month,Dirt 5was announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X. It will offer a 120FPS mode on Xbox Series X though it has not been confirmed if this will be available on PS5. A newNeed for Speedgame is also in development and though EA hasn’t said when this will be released, it gives racing fans on PS5 another title to get excited about.
Gran Turismo 7is in development exclusively for PS5.
