Grand Theft Auto 5has been around for close to a decade at this point, but the game is still selling at a surprising rate. This is partially owing toGrand Theft Auto 5’s online component still being regularly updated with new content, and the fact that the online community has stayed active throughout the years.
Grand Theft Auto 5has now sold over 160 million units worldwide, with 5 million of those sales coming in the last quarter of 2021. The series as a whole has now also eclipsed 370 million units since its inception. This is unsurprising as the franchise has become somewhat of a household name sinceGrand Theft Auto 3came out and laid the foundation for many open-world games to come.

Rockstar has now finally announced that it is working onGrand Theft Auto 6. This has been a long time coming considering that only 5 years passed between the release ofGrand Theft Auto 4andGrand Theft Auto 5.Grand Theft Auto 6has no set release date as yet, and it has been nearly 9 years since the release ofGrand Theft Auto 5.
An industry insider has even suggested apossible release date forGrand Theft Auto 6. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has speculated thatGrand Theft Auto 6’s release date will be announced some time this year. Schreier also theorized thatGrand Theft Auto 6’s release date could be as soon as late 2023, or even possibly early 2024.
In the meantime, however,Rockstar is still consistently updatingGrand Theft Auto Online. The latest update is said to be adding a new car shop for elite cars in the game. Rockstar has announced a brand-new auto shop called Hao’s Special Works, which is said to be able to upgrade vehicles' speed to be able to take advantage of the upgraded power of the newer hardware of the next-gen consoles. The new auto shop will, unfortunately, only be able to upgrade 10 vehicles at launch, 5 existing vehicles, and 5 new vehicles that will be added in the update.
GTA Onlineis now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will release on March 15.
