April has arrived, and that means that there are a variety ofnew bugsinAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfor players to catch. One of the rarest new insects isAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' Atlas Moth, and indeed some fans are sure to be wondering how to locate one of these bugs. Fortunately, it is not exceedingly difficult to do exactly that with a bit of instruction and a little patience.

The Atlas Moth inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsis available in the Northern Hemisphere from April through September and in the Southern Hemisphere from October through March. These lengthy windows mean that there is plenty of time to catchACNH’s Atlas Moth, but there is one important caveat: this bug only spawns between the hours of 7pm and 4am. As such, players that are hoping to catch an Atlas Moth will need to prepare for some nighttime hunting.

Additionally, the Atlas Moth inNew Horizonsappears in a somewhat unique location, only spawning on the sides oftrees. While some reports suggest that the moth can only be found on the trunks of pine trees and palm trees, other players indicate that the type of tree does not matter, and indeed the video below supports that claim.

With all of this in mind,Animal Crossing: New Horizonsfansshould simply keep their eyes on the trees that they pass during the appropriate time frame, looking for large moths that are attached to trunks. Once a player has spottedACNH’s Atlas Moth, they should then proceed to creep up on it from below and then spring their net when they are just in range of the bug to avoid scaring it off.

As previously mentioned, the Atlas Moth inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsis somewhat rare, and thus it may take some fans a while to encounter one. However, the Atlas Moth will be around for a while, and after a player has donated the bug toBlathersand his museum they can look forward to receiving 3,000 Bells for each one that they sell to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny.
