What Alien: Earth’s Debut Viewership Numbers Mean

AlthoughAlien: Earthhas been celebrated by critics and drew in viewership for its opening episodes, the biggest drawback of the show so far has been audience perception. While the series has a 96% Tomatometer, it has a 72% score from audiences, marking a noticeably lower approval rating from viewers.

TheAlienfranchise has existed for a long time, and there’s a vast array of opinions on what it should and shouldn’t be. EveryAlienfilm after the first two has mixed reviews to some degree, but each of them has an apparent fan base, even if it’s niche or a cult classic.Prometheus, for example, has gained a following over time.

Morrow in Alien Earth

9.2M viewers in six days is a fantastic start forAlien: Earth, though the question will be whether it can maintain those numbers throughout a season. September is going to be a busy month for TV, with several major shows returning that could give theAlienprequel some competition.

It’s also worth noting that this is the first timeAlienhas ever been on television, so it may require some trial and error to get it right. This is an excellent opening for the franchise, and it’s likely overperforming given how theAlienfilms have done at the box office previously.

Our Take On Alien: Earth’s Debut Viewership Numbers

While I’m not the most dedicatedAlienfan in the world, I thought the show’s first two episodes were fantastic. Sydney Chandler’s Wendy makes for a compelling lead character who’s easy to root for, the world-building is excellent, and the show is intelligent, which I would have expected from showrunner Noah Hawley.

I’m all in onAlien: Earthso far, and I’m glad to see it performing well from the get-go. I’m thrilled to see what Hawley has to offer with a longer-form narrative set in one of the most fascinating sci-fi worlds out there.
