Below Deck Down Underseason 3 is nearing its end, and I’m growing increasingly concerned we’ll be denied a reunion to tie up loose ends. WhileBelow Deckused to bring the cast back together to address the season’s most pressing issues, the franchise has done away with reunions in recent years. The logistics of an international cast make filming a reunion difficult, with many yachties returning to their work at sea after filming. Nevertheless, I think the new season deserves to break the pattern.

Below Deck Down Underseason 3was, in many ways, unprecedented. It left Australia for the Seychelles, took place aboard the largest yacht inBelow Deckhistory, and was the first season without Chief Stew Aesha Scott. The drama exceeded expectations, with disastrous Bosun Wihan Du Toit wreaking havoc for more than half the season before being fired alongside beloved Deckhand Johnny Arvanitis. Meanwhile, several healthy friendships and boatmances emerged, a welcome change after the franchise’s history of problematic behavior. While season 2 was critically acclaimed, I think the third season was somehow better.

Reunions Give Viewers Necessary Closure

Not Having A Reunion Leaves The Season Feeling Unfinished

For viewers who spend countless hours focused on the drama, denying a reunion can feel like a slap in the face. Many ofBelow Deck Down Under’sjuiciest moments, like Lara Rigby calling frenemyChef Tzarina Mace-Ralph“weird Barbie,” took place during confessionals outside regular filming. Not having a reunion denies the cast the opportunity to respond to comments said behind their backs, which leaves viewers with only half of the story.

Reunions also benefit the crew by giving them a chance to explain their actions during the season.Cameras can never capture the full story, and editing can completely change the way people come across. For those who put their reputations on the line for our entertainment, it seems only fair that they have a chance to defend themselves.

Wihan Needs To Answer To His Behavior

He Was Never Held Accountable For His Interaction With Alesia

Wihan was undeniably the villainofBelow Deck Down Underseason 3, from his incompetent leadership to his reckless flirtation with the female crew. His destruction peaked when Alesia Harris, girlfriend of Wihan’s roommate Johnny, mistakenly crawled into bed with Wihan. Upon discovering them together, Johnny was enraged, resulting in a violent display that got him sent home.

While Wihan wasn’t necessarily the aggressor, he never told Alesia she was in the wrong bed, but was fired before telling his side of the story. However, Marina Marcondes de Barros revealed onWatch What Happens Livethat Wihan had told her he slept through the entire incident, which was refuted by the footage. This suggests Wihan wanted to cover up the truth, and I would love to hear him confronted with the footage that shows him wrapping his arm around Alesia and remaining silent as she called him Johnny.

Viewers Want Updates On The Season 3 Boatmances

Which Couples Are Still Together After Filming?

WhileBelow Deck Down Underviewers are mainly tuning in for a glimpse into the exhilarating world of yachting, they’re also invested in the boatmances.Harry Van Vliet and Brianna Duffield, Marina and Nick Cattelan, and Alesia and Johnny are just some of the romantic entanglements from season 3. A reunion would provide updates on those relationships for fans eager to know which couples survived the season.

In the face of logistical challenges that prevent filming aBelow Deck Down Underreunion in person, the cast could always meet virtually. Though not ideal, audiences who have patiently followed these stories for months would be happy to get any form of closure possible. The nature of unscripted reality shows means things aren’t always wrapped up neatly in the finale, and reunions are crucial to closure after a high-drama season.
