I thought the islanders onLove Island USAseason 7 made the right choice in sending Charlie Georgiou home, but now that I’ve seen Hannah Fields’s reaction, I’m not so sure. Charlie was the second person sent home onLove Island USAseason 7, but he was the first victim of a villa vote. Even though fellowLove Island USAcast memberAmaya Espinal screamed and cried that she didn’t want to vote anyone out, she ultimately chose to eliminate Charlie, acting as a pivotal vote in getting him out.

Charlie’s elimination has been controversial, with some fans wondering if Huda Mustafa or Taylor Williams should have been sent home instead. After all,Huda’s toxic relationship with Jeremiah Brownhas meant that neither one of them has formed any other connections, and Taylor’s relationship with Olandria Carthen has been such a slow burn, it’s unclear if he even likes her. Despite all this,I thought Charlie was the right person to eliminate, but I changed my mind when I saw Hannah cry.

Charlie’s Journey On Love Island USA

Love Island USAbombshells are known for shaking up the game.Belle-A Walker’s elimination was caused by Nic Vansteenberghechoosing to remain coupled up with bombshell Cierra Ortega, but Charlie didn’t have the same impact on the game. In fact, when Charlie first entered the villa, none of the original cast members wanted to couple up with him. It wasn’t until Hannah joined the islanders that Charlie’s luck changed.

Charlie and Hannah had an instant connection. She was also intrigued by Austin Shepard, but her connection with Charlie was undeniable. However, whenLove Island USA’s bombshell Pepe Garciawalked into the villa with his sights set on Hannah, Charlie’s game was up in the air. Would Hannah choose to couple up with Pepe, leaving Charlie single and vulnerable?

Charlie Was Treating Love Island USA Like A Game

His Actions Seemed Desperate

Love Island USAis a show about dating multiple people, yet always remaining coupled up. Therefore, it was completely understandable that Hannah wanted to explore her connection with Pepe even though she was already building a relationship withCharlie. Unfortunately, Hannah’s make-out sessions with the new villa bombshell sent Charlie spiraling.

Love Island USAis a complicated reality show, as it’s both about finding love and winning a cash prize.

The Peacock dating show is and isn’t a game. While cast members ideally enter the villa hoping to make genuine connections and maybe fall in love, there’s also money on the line. If someone ends up single in the villa, they’re at risk of going home, removing any hope of winning the game.Charlie’s connection with Hannah seemed genuine at first, but when she showed interest in another man, Charlie realized he had to play the game. He attempted (and failed) to form a new connection with Amaya Espinal.

I felt uncomfortable when Charlie tried to develop a relationship with Amaya because he seemed so desperate. I didn’t think Charlie was actually interested in Amaya. Rather,it seemed like Charlie realized Hannah could leave him, and he needed a new person to couple up with in hopes of staying in the game. I was glad when Charlie was sent home because I no longer thought he had pure intentions.

The Vote Ruined Hannah’s Love Island USA Experience

Her Choice Was Taken Away From Her

Hannah was forced to couple up with Pepedue to an audience vote. With Charlie then single and vulnerable, his fellow cast members voted him out, leaving Hannah in tears. Hannah’s strongest connection was ripped away from her through no fault of her own. She didn’t choose to couple up with Pepe, nor did she vote Charlie out.Hannah didn’t even get to vote, as only the people who weren’t re-coupled were tasked with eliminating someone.

Hannah started crying immediately, clearly incredibly distressed by the results. Her reaction was so strong, I had no choice but to feel bad for her. She didn’t ask for any of this, but she was paying the price. Because Hannah was so devastated by Charlie’s elimination, I wish theLove Island USAcast members had selected someone else to leave the villa.

Love Island USAairs every day on Peacock at 9 p.m. EDT, except for Wednesdays.
