No matter their characters' ages, with both the first movie and its sequel dealing with Harry and Lloyd on a cross-country road trip, it is likely that the third movie would carry on this tradition, as well as a storyline about Harry and Lloyd’s friendship being tested by a romance.
Dumb and Dumber Toalso included a post-credit scene that could give some hints to the third movie’s premise. The scene sees Harry and Lloyd driving down the road and absent-mindedly tossing their milkshakes behind them, hitting a following truck. It turns out that the truck is being driven by their old enemy, Sea Bass (with hockey player Cam Neely reprising his role from the first movie). Angered by the incident, Sea Bass bears down on the friends before the screen cuts to a title card forDumb and Dumber Forsupposedly being released in 2034.
The scene is clearly a gag and doesn’t really set up a sequel too effectively, as too much time would have passed for the movie to pick up right from that moment.
