Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis over five years old at this point, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo can’t still support it with new content. After all, we have yet to hear an official announcement about an upcoming game in the franchise for the Switch 2. For all we know, the nextAnimal Crossingcould still be years away, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe Nintendo could give us more DLC forAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
While there are a lot of rumors swirling around the potentialannouncement of a newAnimal Crossing, at least one of which says the game will be released next year, Nintendo has stayed silent on the matter. As we approach the end of July, and the rumored Nintendo Direct where it will be revealed has yet to be announced, it’s looking like we might have more time than expected before the series' next installment. Nintendo could keep enthusiasm for the series going with someDLC for the previous game.

Players Would Welcome Animal Crossing DLC With Open Arms
Many Players Have Exhausted The Existing Content After Five Years
Enthusiasm forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonshas understandably been waning over time. After all, part of what helped the game’s massive popularity in the first place was the fact that many people were stuck on COVID lockdown with little else to do. Now that we can go outside freely and many players have exhausted everything the game has to offer, there just isn’t as much of a reason to play anymore.
There are still some passionate fans that are creating awesome custom islands, but for more casual players,an injection of new content could help bring them back.Anyone still playing would likely also welcome getting some DLC to spice up the experience after so long without new additions. Of course, the reception of the new content would depend on how Nintendo handles it.

Where Could Nintendo Go With New Horizons DLC?
Nintendo Could Add Back Villagers And Features From Older Games
There are a few directions thatAnimal Crossing: New HorizonsDLC could take. One option could be to bring backvillagers from previous gameswho stopped appearing in the series. I know many players would love to have the sassy Sue E back in rotation. DLC could also be used to bring back fan-favoritefeatures missing fromAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
It’s hard to say exactly what might excite me enough to go back toAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsat this point. That said, I would be open to the idea of new content, especially with no new game having been announced yet. Seeing as we don’t know when a sequel is coming, there is likely still time for more DLC.
