What The Trailer Means For Black Rabbit

Created by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin and his wife Kate Susman, theBlack Rabbittrailer does look to have a few crime thriller beats sure to resonate withfans ofOzark. Some of the more notable are the criminal setting in a seemingly affluent area, the Emmy winner’s central character doing his best to talk his way out of situations and involving his family in his actions.

One of the more notable changes to the mix is that of Bateman’s Vince being the more unpredictable of the family.Marty Byrd inOzarkwas notably a calculating, confident business person with every step taken to get his family out from cartel threat. Vince, on the other hand, is clearly the kind of figure who doesn’t know when to cut his losses and walk away.

As for Law,Black Rabbitmarks something of an interesting venture for him as it continues his gradual expansion of TV work. Ever since the rave success ofThe Young Pope, which netted him a Golden Globe nomination, Law has starred in everything fromthe mysteriousThe Third Dayto the follow-up to his prior HBO hit,The New Pope, andStar Warsspinoff,Skeleton Crew.

Unlike many of his prior shows, though, theBlack Rabbittrailer certainly looks poised to be Law’s most energetically intense series yet. Between long-gestating conflicts with his brother to being shot at and taking his character well outside his comfort zone, Jake looks to be put through a variety of wringers in the series.

Our Take On The Black Rabbit Trailer

Given his prevalence in the world of comedy, it’s certainly easy to paint anything Bateman does in drama as being anOzarkreplacement, butBlack Rabbitnot only looks like a proper one, but also a subversive one. Bateman is so often known for straight-laced characters that to see him cut loose for a character as chaotic as Vince is sure to make it all the more unpredictable.

Black Rabbitpremieres on Netflix on September 18.
