The Big Fix: A Jack Bergin Mystery Continues To Showcase Jon Hamm’s Range

Jon Hamm became a well-known figure thanks to his work inMad Men,but he has since proven his ability to tackle just about any kind of role.Hamm hostedSaturday Night Livefor the fourth time in April 2025, which, paired with his appearances in movies likeTag, show how goofy the actor is willing to be on camera. A long recurring stint in30 Rockas the incompetent Dr. Drew Baird further highlights his ability for physical comedy. On the flip side,The Big Fixshowcases how well the actor can hold an audience’s attention with his voice alone.

LikeMad Men,The Big Fixis also a period piece (it’s set in the 1950s), but it’s still a very different affair. Hamm’s ad man Don Draper is very different from Jack Bergin no matter whereMad Men’s seven seasonstake him. A closer comparion might be Hamm’s performance as Joe Finney, a detective the actor plays in Steven Soderbergh’sNo Sudden Move, which is set in 1954. Bergin is even very different from Finney, however, thanks to Bergin’s determination to finding the truth, even outside the bounds of the law.

Interestingly,The Big Fixand its predecessor are not the only audio dramas Hamm is known for. He also starred in the scriptedpsychological thrillerAmerican Hostage, which is now being developed into a TV show with Hamm reprising his role. InAmerican Hostage, Hamm plays a radio host turned accidental hostage negotiator, which is a very different character from the calculating Jack Bergin. Although no plans have been announced for Hamm’s Bergin to make it to the screen, the success of his past podcast project in making the jump could prove the possibility.
