First, players will need to head to the New York Times Games site. While there are tons of copycats out there, this is the original version. It was purchased by the newspaper giant back in February. Although severalWordlecloneshave become massively popular, this is the version this article will reference.
In order to play, choose a five-letter English word to get started. This word should be filled withletters commonly used inWordlepuzzlesand at least two vowels. Type this word into the website and press enter. The letter blocks will change colors to let the player know if the letters are right or wrong.
Given these clues, players have six total guesses to get to the right answer. Once a puzzle is complete, theWordlemenu will pop up. This menu contains the spoiler-free share button and some stats. These include time until the next puzzle is available, winning streaks, total puzzles played, and more.
