Grand strategy games are a niche genre already, but grand strategy games released on consoles are even more rare. Yet theNobunaga’s Ambitionfranchise has proven that there’s still a place for that kind of game. The series has been around since the 1980s and doesn’t plan on going anywhere, as Koei Tecmo has officially announced the next major release in theNobunaga’s Ambitionfranchise -Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rebirth.

Otherwise, fans ofNobunaga’s Ambitionwill have to speculate about other details. For example, there are no confirmed platforms for the new game.Koei Tecmo’s last release in the franchise,Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi, was released on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices. It would be surprising ifNobunaga’s Ambition: Rebirthexpanded from those platforms, outside of a possible PS5 release.

WhileNobunaga’s Ambitionhas been consistently iterated upon since it launched in the 80s, it’s still surprising to see another game coming in 2021.
