WithGen V’sreturn edging closer, there is plenty of hype building around the upcoming story, but while it could go in all kinds of directions, season 2 can’t avoid one major cameo. Despite the initial apprehension from fans, the spinoff’s first season exceeded all expectations and even rivaled the main show, earning a 97% critical Rotten Tomatoes score.

Alongside introducing a variety of exciting new supes, the series also featured several characters fromThe Boys, such as Victoria Neuman, members of the Seven, and even Billy Butcher. Now,Gen Vseason 2’s trailer has confirmed that Starlightwill feature in the show, while familiar faces such as the Deep and Black Noir will also make appearances.

However, consideringGen Vseason 2 looks essential toThe Boysseason 5’s story, there is another major character that simply must have a cameo when the series returns. Fortunately, the sinister supe has already shown up in season 1, and their next appearance feels like it could be the perfect way to set upThe Boys' final chapter.

Homelander Having Another Cameo In Gen V Season 2’s Finale Is The Perfect Bridge Into The Boys’ Final Outing

After his terrifying cameo in season 1’s climax, a Homelander appearance inGen Vseason 2 feels like the perfect way to progress the overarching narrative ahead ofThe Boysseason 5. Although the two shows aren’t supposed to be necessary viewing for one another, Sam and Cate’s cameos inThe Boysseason 4 prove this isn’t strictly the case.

The abundance of characters from the main series who feature inGen Vseason 1 indicates that the two projects complement one another and are essential to understanding the franchise’s full story. Therefore, Homelander showing up inGen Vseason 2’s finale feels unavoidable, especially since he will almost certainly play a big role in the spinoff’s upcoming plot.

The fact that Sam and Cate have joinedHomelander’s supe armywill surely impact how the likes of Marie, Jordan, and Emma interact with them. Likewise, the villain will surely want to keep tabs onGen V’s main heroes, making it inevitable that he will confront at least one of them at some point throughout the season.

Having Homelander’s intimidating presence in season 2 would also be a nice nod to his part in the spinoff’s freshman season. However, more importantly, seeing him interact with Marie again after she has become more powerful and teamed with Starlight would set up a thrilling final season ofThe Boysand provide fans with a taste of what’s to come.

Gen V Season 2 Can’t Afford To Ignore Homelander’s Supe Takeover

With Homelander endingThe Boysseason 4 with power over the President, he now has huge political influence and has already begun a supe takeover, as evidenced by his new team, somethingGen Vseason 2 can’t ignore. Martial law has officially been declared, with hundreds of supes answering directly to Homelander to enforce it, which should impact the spinoff.

While Godolkin University will once again be the central setting ofGen V, the series surely can’t sweep past how Homelander’s newfound power has influenced America. The trailer has already shown that members of the Seven will be involved in the action, meaning their attempts to carry out Homelander’s orders will surely impact the main heroes' freedom.

Starlight even mentions Marie being on the run before returning to school, indicating she is a target of the franchise’s central antagonist. As a result, it’s hard to imagineGen Vsimply ignoring the events ofThe Boysseason 4’s finale, which leaves plenty of room for Homelander to show face and once again intimidate the protagonists.

Cate turning on Homelander inGen Vseason 2also seems possible since she features heavily in the trailer and appears to feel some ounce of regret about her actions. Therefore, the series would have to address her role in manipulating Frenchie’s mind inThe Boys, proving how important Homelander’s actions are to the spinoff’s narrative.

Why Gen V’s Heroes Have To Be In The Boys Season 5

Gen V’s future beyond season 2 is still unknown, but the show’s main heroes must be involved inThe Boysseason 5. They’ve already encountered Vought and Homelander, who are aware of their incredible strength, but Starlight essentially recruiting Marie gives these supes a reason to play a part in the main show’s big conclusion.

Additionally,Gen V’s trailer indicated Marie’s powers could challenge Homelander, with the young hero having the potential to surpass him. While she shouldn’t be the one to defeat Homelander, having the likes of her, Jordan, Emma, and potentially even a reformed Cate or Sam fighting the villain would help make him weaker forThe Boys' main characters to step in.

It also offers the chance to resolve some of the protagonists' stories - assuming the spinoff doesn’t continue afterThe Boys' conclusion - or at least kill one or two characters off to make a third season more emotional. Regardless, their desire to expose Godolkin makes them far too involved in the franchise’s overall plot, suggesting they need a role in season 5.

Even if they don’t take on Homelander directly, using these gifted university students to help slow down some of the other villains would at least give them a purpose, and consideringGen Vhas made these characters feel critical, they can’t just be sidelined duringThe Boys' grand finale.
