InAll-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #1by Stephanie Phillips and Paolo Villanelli, Gwen is getting back into the swing of things now that she’s used the Cosmic Cube to resettle herself and her father on Earth-616. However, Gwen’s old symbiote is around too. Thehost-less symbiote stalks an alleyway until it bonds with a nearby manwho’s losing his temper.
After taking control of the man, the new being tracks down and kills Gwen’s newest bandmate, Wes. The symbiote’s new form is terrifying, with spikes coming out everywhere, including one of its eyes. After discovering that Wes has been killed,Spider-Gwen vows to stopthe killer, unaware that the symbiote is in the process of killing someone else.
Marvel Comics Debuts Tantrum, Spider-Gwen’s Former Symbiote
Despite having similar powers to most other spider heroes, Spider-Gwen lost her powers after a run-in with a Power Glove. She was able to stay in the hero game thanksto the Venom symbiotefrom her home universe. Spider-Gwen eventually got the Cosmic Cube to restore her powers and abandoned her symbiote, leaving it alive and able to plan revenge.
While the issue itself doesn’t name-drop Tantrum, solicitations for future issues do, and clarify that this is indeed Gwen’s old symbiote who is back with a vengeance. While Spider-Gwen is used to fighting symbiotes, this is different. Tantrum knows Gwen inside and out, and it’s not going to stop until it makes Gwen pay for leaving the symbiote behind.

Spider-Gwen is tough, but this symbiote is powerful and incredibly furious. While Gwen can probably handle Tantrum, she’s going to have to act fast, because this monster is going to express its rage on a number of innocent people. If Spider-Gwen doesn’t act quickly, her ‘Venom’ is going to make her life a living hell.
