InGiant Size Amazing Spider-Man #1’sstory “Rapid Advancements” by Chip Zdarsky and Cafu, a man named Roger comes to his father’s defense whenhe’s attacked by Electro. However, Roger’s father has been working on an experiment involving confined time dilation, and during the attack, Roger comes into contact with a serum his father created.

Roger gains the ability to create isolated pockets where time slows down, making him appear faster than human perception. Not only is he able to zoom across the city, but Rapid, as he calls himself, is also able to slow down an exploding building.
Marvel Comics Debuts Its New Speedster Hero, Rapid
Rapid Uses Time Dilation to Mimic Incredible Speed
When it comes to speedsters and comics, there is no question about it:The Flash is the fastestcomic book character that’s ever been created. While there have been several people to take the Scarlet Speedster’s moniker, the fastest person to ever wear the iconic red and yellow costume is Wally West. Not only was he blessed with a connection to the Speed Force, but Wally has spent years studying the incredible phenomenon. He’s pushed himselfmore than any other Flash and the result is him becoming the fastest speedster in his or any other comic book universe.
While Rapid is impressive, he’s far from being a speedster on the Flash’s level. For one, he isn’t actually fast himself. He’s more like Flash’s rival Zoom, who manipulates time around him to appear as if he’s got superhuman speed. And though Rapid is able to do things quickly within the pockets he projects, it still takes him roughly the same amount of time as any other hero outside of them. Butwhile Rapid falls short compared to the Flash now, he’s only just debuted and, with enough practice, he could become a speedster that blows the competition away.

Working with Other Heroes Will Bring Out Rapid’s Full Potential
Flash Wins Out for Now, But Just Wait for the Avengers to Train Him
Rapid might not have a full understanding of his powers just yet, but fortunately, he lives in a world with some of the smartest heroes around. Iron Man, Black Panther, Mister Fantastic, and more could analyze Rapid’s contained time dilation and figure out a way for him to refine his abilities to be an even better speedster. Plus, Wally West didn’t start out as the fastest Flash, he had to spend years working on his powers. If Rapid’s willing to put in the work, there’s no doubt he’ll become powerful enough to be consideredMarvel’sunquestioned ‘Flash’.
