The newSpider-Manfrom the far future Year 3099 is not only a historic debut, but will be recruited to lead Marvel’s heroes in a new multiveral war, promised to changethe entire future ofMarvel 2099. The same future that has spawned over 30 years of comic stories, and introduced the iconicSpider-Man 2099to the world.
Now that timeline is seemingly facing its demise, in the five-issue limited series by returning2099writer Steve Orlando and artist Ibraim Roberson. Beginning this December,heroes from across Marvel’s Multiverse will join this new Spider-Manin a colossal ‘2099 vs. 3099’ war for the ages:
In a war staged by Mephisto and the terrifying entity known as ABYSSUS on a distant planet, the heroes of 2099 must fight for their very existence in a secret war against an army pulled from other alternate timelines, including familiar faces from legendary Marvel storylines. Their enemies will also hail from a newly-emerging reality—the all-new 3099!

The multiple future heroes and storylines branded with the “Marvel 2099” label over the years has led to some complicated canon, but writer Steve Orlando explains howThe End 2099will be simplifying things in the most brutal way possible:
“This is the one for it all, folks. With all existing 2099 timelines united into the one, true, Universe-2099, the stakes are higher than ever when Abyssus, the Devourer in Black, comes to dinner! But not all is as it seems! Mephisto, 2099’s dark dealmaker, pivots from annihilation to a war of champions–with 2099’s greatest battling Abyssus' finest, plucked from the multiverse!”
As the official plot details confirm, the likes ofRed Hulk 2099, Nova 2099, and of course Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O’Harawill be assembled by this new, golden Spider-Man. And they’ll need all the help they can get, with monsters liketheAge of ApocalypseWolverine, and icons like Claremont and Byrne’sX-Menforced to do battle:

With Orlando promising the event will live up to its premise as a"no-holds barred war against extinction,“fans of Spider-Man also have new lore to look forward to. Unlike Spider-Man 2099,this new Spider-Man hails from a 3099 future devoid of heroes altogether. Getting to fight with allies for the first time, it’s hard to imagine it will be the last… should they survive.
