Mike Flanagan’s upcomingCarrieTV show isbringing back plenty of familiar faces from his past horror movies and shows, including an actress who hasn’t starred in one of his projects in over a decade. AcrossMike Flanagan’s five Netflix horror showsand eight films since 2011, he’s gathered a talented troupe of actors who continue to recur throughout his projects, with many playing starkly different roles across the various stories. Even for those who aren’t as frequently present in his movies and shows, Flanagan does a fantastic job of bringing back early collaborators after long gaps between projects.
Flanagan’sremake of Stephen King’sCarrieis no different, and features an exciting mix of new and familiar figures. As theCarrieTV show’s castgrows, more recent additions include recurring Flanagan actors like Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, and Matthew Lillard, alongside Flanaverse newcomers such as Summer Howell, Heather Graham, and Tim Bagley. Plus, after a long delay between collaborations,Carrieis finally reuniting Flanagan with a TV star who he hasn’t collaborated with since she played a memorably terrifying role in his 2014 horror movieOculus.

Carrie’s Remake Is Mike Flanagan & Katee Sackhoff’s First Collaboration Since Oculus
Katee Sackhoff Portrayed Marie Russell In Oculus
Among therecurring guest stars slated for Mike Flanagan’sCarrieis Katee Sackhoff, a staple in sci-fi TV known for her roles inBattlestar Galacticaas Starbuck,The MandalorianandStar Wars: The Clone Warsas Bo-Katan Kryze, and Niko inAnother Life. Sackhoff also has an impressive existing resumé in the horror genre prior toCarrie, including roles inHalloween: Resurrection,Don’t Knock Twice,The Haunting in Connecticut 2, and, of course, Flanagan’s ownOculus. In the latter film, Sackhoff starred as Marie Russell, whose changes leading up to her traumatizing death continued to haunt her children into adulthood.
ThoughSackhoff’s role of Marie and the rest of the cast’s performances were praised inOculus, she surprisingly didn’t return to the Flanaverse for any of the director’s acclaimed Netflix horror series or subsequent movies. As such, her casting inCarriecomes as a welcome surprise, especially as it followsFlanagan’s recent reunion withOculusstar Karen GillaninThe Life of Chuck. Considering Flanagan has now had long-delayed back-to-back reunions with Sackhoff and Gillan, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see their fellowOculusstars Brenton Thwaites and Rory Cochrane also make Flanaverse returns sometime soon.
Oculuscurrently holds a 75% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sackhoff’s role in Mike Flanagan’s new adaptation ofCarrieis currently undisclosed. As a recurring guest star, it’s also still unclear how many episodes Katee Sackhoff will appear in. There’s no word on whether Sackhoff could be portraying an original character for the series, or one of the existing characters fromStephen King’sCarriebook. WhileCarrie’s main characters, including Carrie and Margaret White, have been officially cast, the supporting characters’ casting details are still being kept under wraps. That said, it’s possible Sackhoff could be playing a teacher at Carrie’s school, a classmate’s mother, or another recurring town resident.
Carrie Is Katee Sackhoff’s First Horror TV Show 5 Years
Sackhoff’s Last Horror Show Was 2000’s The Fearing Mind
Not only doesCarriemark an exciting return to the Flanaverse, but it also marks a promising return to horror TV shows for Katee Sackhoff. While the actress has appeared in several horror movies over the past two decades, she hasn’t starred in a project in this genre on the small screen sinceThe Fearing Mindended in 2000.
Sackhoff portrayed Lenore Fearing, the daughter of suspense thriller writer Bill, who writes horror stories inspired by what happens to his family members. The series only ran between October and December 2000, and remained Sackhoff’s sole horror TV show untilCarrie. Since Sackhoff has continued expanding her horror roles in the film medium, it’s exciting to see that expertise return to the small screen.
Hopefully, their long-delayed reunion in Carrie will lead to more frequent Katee Sackhoff and Mike Flanagan collaborations in the future.
Additionally, withFlanagan also having a TV adaptation of Stephen King’sThe Dark Towerseriesin the works, the possibility for Sackhoff to continue her horror TV comeback with another Flanaverse return isn’t out of the question. Hopefully, their long-delayed reunion inCarriewill lead to more frequent Katee Sackhoff and Mike Flanagan collaborations in the future.
