TheMobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercuryanime will premiere sometime in October, the anime’s official website announced on Saturday. The new anime will be the first newGundamTV anime in seven years.

The Witch From Mercurywill air on MBS and TBS’ Nichi-5 time slot. A promo video celebrating past series that aired during the slot was released by MBS following the announcement.

No announcementsregarding the series’ staff, cast, or setting have been made. Last September, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Chief Gundam Officer Koji Fujiwara teased that the series would be something that “even young generations will support”. This will be the first series since 2015sMobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.

The first 25-episode season ofIron-Blooded Orphansaired during the Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 seasons. A second 25-episode season followed, airing during the Fall 2016 and Winter 2017 seasons. The series was animated by Sunrise, with Tatsuyuki Nagai (Anohana,A Certain Scientific Railgun) directing and Mari Okada (O Maidens in Your Savage Season,The Pet Girl of Sakurasou) handling the series composition. Masaru Yokoyama (Fate/Apocrypha,Fruits Basket) composed music for the series.

Alive-actionGundammoviepresumed to take place in the Universal Century timeline is currently in the works, and is being produced by Netflix and Legendary Pictures. Some concept art teasing a live-action version of the iconic RX-78-2 model was revealed in November.

The most recent Gundam anime project, a film trilogy adapting Yoshiyuki Tomino’sMobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flashlight novel, was released in Japan on August 04, 2025 and made available to stream on Netflix on July 1. Sunrise isanimating the film series, with Shūkō Murase (Gangsta,Ergo Proxy) directing and Yasuyuki Muto (Afro Samurai,Persona-trinity soul-) handling the series composition. The second entry in the trilogy,Sun of Bright, has no release window yet.
