Mortal Kombat 11fans have slightly over a month to wait until the highly anticipated gory fighting title launches, but as we near its date, developer NetherRealm Studio has been providing fans with a drip feed of content to keep them clamoring for the title. The latest bit of news to come out concerningMK11was a newgameplay trailer for Cassie Cage, the daughter ofMKveterans Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade.
In this gameplay trailer, we get a sneak peek at her bubble-blowing entrance, her moveset asshe faces Kano, and her victory animation where she dabs over the body of her opponent. It’s worth mentioning that Cassie Cage was an instant hit when she debuted inMortal Kombat Xas one of the protagonists for the story mode, and while she is designed to be more “new age” than her parents or otherMortal Kombatfighters, this is taken to another level, it seems, inMortal Kombat 11.This design decision is evidenced by one of her fatalities inMortal Kombat Xinvolving a selfie post to social media with her defeated opponent.
This can be seen in a variety of ways inMortal Kombat 11as well, such as when she enters a match. She slides down a rope, gives a quick quip, and blows a bubble with her chewing gum. Her dialogue also involves some funny catchphrases such as tellingScorpionto “Get over here!” and telling Subzero to chill.
These little idiosyncrasies will go a long way in making Cassie Cage stand out in the roster, but it doesn’t end there. As seen below, when Cassie Cage defeats an opponent, she dabs. This may not be the most “new age” aspect of her animations, as the popularity of dabbing died out some time ago, but it is an interesting choice likely rooted in popular culture.
With the lightheartedness of her interactions, the puns, and her animations, it seems safe to say that Cassie will be as popular as she was inMortal Kombat X. Of course, that does remain to be seen, but withMortal Kombat 11right around the corner, we’ll find out sooner rather than later.
Mortal Kombat 11is scheduled to release on July 17, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
