Pierrot Is Going All Hands On Deck For the New Season
Part of what made fans frustrated about the 4-year wait between the last season and the next is where things left off.Black Clover’sanime left off at a moment when the story was heading toward some massive developments, making the wait all the more painful.
Luckily for fans,Black Clover’sproduction studio, Pierrot, has been working on the hit anime’s return, meaning the animated adventures of Asta, Yuno, and the Black Bulls will finally continue and will be available on Crunchyroll when they finally do release.
Why Did It Take So Long For Black Clover’s Anime To Return?
No Official Statement Has Been Released, But There Are a Few Likely Reasons
Though a 4-year gap between seasons is not exactly unusual in the world of anime, it is unusual given that new seasons ofBlack Cloverwere released on an annual basis from 2018 to 2021. It is unlikely that Pierrot orBlack Cloverpublisher Shueisha will confirm one way or the other why the anime was delayed, but there are likely two major factors.
The first is that Studio Pierrot is a busy studio. Pierrot is the primary studio behind a wide variety of incredibly popular anime such as Naruto, Boruto, Bleach, and Black Clover. Far from just a shonen production house, they also produce a wide variety of other anime as well. Given this, a new season of Black Clover just might not have been ashigh of a priority as new cours ofBleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
In addition to that,Black Clover’sanime may have been delayed to give the manga time to bank chapters, making sure that Pierrot has enough manga to adapt without resorting to the kind offiller content that has plagued previous Pierrot gems likeNarutoandBleach.
Regardless of what combination of factors led to the delay, though, it’s clear something was worked out. While little is known about Black Clover season 5, it’s clear that the time away has made hype for the upcoming series build up to a critical mass.
