WhilePokemonmay be the more popular franchises overall,Digimonhas built up its own respectable following, largely thanks to the well-receivedDigimonanime series. The originalDigimonanime series in particular was quite popular, spawning a sequel series, films, and more. OtherDigimonanime series have been set in other areas with different characters, but now Toei Animation is bringing back the original cast for a 2020 reboot.

The newDigimon Adventureanime series will feature the same cast of human characters and partner Digimon that fans will remember from the original show. The key difference is that the setting is being updated to actually be set in 2020. The new series will be a reboot, though it’s unclear how close it will follow the original show and what changes will be made to the story.
