Developer HoYoverse has just announced the delay of the twoHonkai: Star Rail3.6 character announcements, something that is unexpected given how tightly it usually follows the game’s schedule, but the decision actually makes a lot of sense. At the moment, the turn-based RPG is going through the last couple of weeks of Version 3.4, an update that introduced Phainon as a playable character.The community’s attention, however, is already turned toward the next patch, as theHonkai: Star Rail3.5 livestreamis set to occur later this week.
After some speculation about when the livestream would occur, HoYoverse announced that the Version 3.5 special event will occur on Saturday, August 2, at 7:30 am ET. The announcement was shared through a post on the officialHonkai: Star Railaccount on X. In addition to the livestream’s announcement, which will highlight Cerydra and Hysilens, thenewHonkai: Star Rail3.5 characters,HoYoverse also announced that the official dates for the drip marketing posts for the Version 3.6 characters, even if it refrains from calling it a delay.

While HoYoverse did not address the drip marketing post dates as a delay, they do, technically, fall under that category.Usually, the company tends to share drip marketing posts for new characters on the first days of the week before a livestream happens. As such, the drip marketing posts for the Version 3.6 characters would occur on July 28 and July 29, for example. However, the company revealed that the drip marketing posts for thenewHonkai: Star Rail3.6 characterswill occur on August 3 and August 4, respectively.
For more clarification, HoYoverse announced the days for the Amphoreus Saga of Heroes posts, which are the next drip marketing posts. Furthermore, because there are two dates specified by the company, it’s likely that there will be two new character announcements for Version 3.6, as HoYoverse usually shares one drip marketing post per day.Based on previous leaks, it’s likely that these new characters will be the new forms of March 7th and Dan Heng inHonkai: Star Rail.

As such, HoYoverse avoids spoiling the surprises that are being kept for the Version 3.5 livestream.
According to a leak by Sakura Haven, shared by user CSTheng onReddit, March 7th’s new form may be called Evernight and will be an Ice Remembrance unit, while Dan Heng’s new form is allegedly called Terravox and will be a Physical Preservation character.
Overall,it doesn’t seem like the delay in the new character announcements will actually affect the release of the next patches in any way, but it is just a means of keeping the new characters a secret until the livestream happens. There haven’t been too many leaks about these two new character forms, but at least “Dark March” is expected to be something of a game-changer as she is rumored to be a DPS unit inHonkai: Star Rail3.6.
