Due to complications caused by COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, Wizards of the Coast, distributor of popular card gameMagic: The Gathering, has delayed the release of a new card set. TheMagic: The GatheringsetIkoria: Lair of Behemothswas originally scheduled for release on April 24th, but has been pushed back in most regions for financial and distribution reasons.

At 2 PM UTC of April 2nd, 2020, Wizards of the Coast will releaseIkoria’strailer and previews, the latter of which will be available until the 10th of the month. In China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, the set will actually launch one week early on April 17th, but in Australia and New Zealand, Brunei, Europe, Indonesia, Latin America, Malaysia, North America, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam,Ikoria: Lair of Behemothswon’t see store shelves until May 15th.

In the announcement post on their website, Wizards of the Coast acknowledged the difficulties of running a game store during these turbulent times. As such, until June 1st game stores which are members of the Wizards Play Network, or WPN, are allowed to charge admission fees of up to $10 for tournaments held overMagic: The Gathering Arena.In addition, WPN stores will be receiving free reprintedpacks ofMystery Boostersto sell upon reopening.

For now though, all in storetournaments are currently on hiatus. For anyone itching to playMagic, supporting a local game store in one of their online tournaments might be a good place to look.
