The newMasters of the Universelive-action reboot is one of the most interesting projects coming out in the next few years, as it is set to return the franchise to the big screen in a way that hasn’t been seen in nearly 40 years, since the original live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren made its way to theaters.
While little has been revealed about the new movie itself,Masters of the Universe’s castisfull of a number of well-known names, alongside some lesser-known actors, even in the lead role as He-Man himself, who is being played by relative newcomer Nicholas Galitzine, mostly known for a number of streaming romance films like Amazon’sThe Idea of You.
However, while manyclassicMasters of the Universecharactersare going to show up, there is one character in particular, who was one of the main characters in the original live-action film, who isseemingly going to be completely absent from this new version of the film.
2026’s Masters Of The Universe Doesn’t Include A Version Of Courteney Cox’s Julie
Julie Winston, played by Courteney Cox, was one of the main charactersin the 1987Masters of the Universe. She was a regular human, living on Earth, who, due to the events of the film, became caught up in the way between the good forces of Eternia and Skeletor.
In all thereveals so far about the newMasters of the Universe,there has been no mention of a character named Julie, nor have there been any other new characters announced that could fit the same role of being an outsider exposed to the world and people of Eternia for the first time.

There’s No Need For Her To Reappear Now
For people only familiar with the live-action film, this could be seen as odd, butJulie was a character created specifically for that movie, and didn’t exist in anyMasters of the Universemedia beforehand, as the majority of theMasters of the Universefranchiseis set in the fictional world of Eternia.
The newMasters of the Universemovie is set to be theatrically released on August 02, 2025.
With that in mind,the new movie seems to be going for a much more faithful recreation of the originalanimated series, as opposed to the film, which felt like the filmmakers were somewhat embarrassed by the original, and wanted to try and make their version more relatable.
Regardless of the reasoning, the fact that the new movie isn’t a direct sequel to the other live-action attempt is a good thing, as even though plenty of people like that version, staying true to the originalMasters of the Universewill not only earn some goodwill with the fans, but also introduce people to a more complete version of the franchise.
