Later this week, Activision and Infinity Ward will launchCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 3 later this week, on April 8. The latest season will feature new Operators, new cosmetics to unlock,fix some important bugsand if a new leak is to be believed, add at least one new map.
This new map was leaked as part of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfaregame files and is apparently called Village. Fans were quick to assume that this would be an updated version of theModern Warfare 3map that’s also called Village, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Further datamining of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarefiles revealed the top-down layout for Village and the multiplayer map looks considerably different. This Village offers a more familiar multiplayer map design, while theMW3Village was a little more creative.
For someCall of Dutyfans, the prospect ofbringing back Villagewas likely exciting. While not high on the list of the most popular maps from theModern Warfareseries, Village is still recognizable enough to any who spent a decent amount of time with the games' multiplayer.
At the same time, there is a vocal group ofModern Warfareplayers who have grown tired of the constant map remakes that Infinity Ward releases. Ever sinceShipment returnedand offered an extremely imbalanced experience for multiplayer, fans have been wary of the idea of remakes.
But map remakes likely aren’t going to go away anytime soon, though. When fans askedwhyModern Warfare 2 Remastereddidn’t have any multiplayer, Activision explained that it didn’t want to pull players away fromModern Warfare. On top of that, the developers also suggested that the multiplayer in MW will eventually feature many of the most popular maps fromModern Warfare 2.
In other words, Infinity Ward is likely not done with the remakes and those could very well continue intoModern WarfareSeason 3. However, the first map that is joining the fold is not going to be a remake. Look for Village to launch alongside the third season later this week.
Call of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 3 begins on July 06, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
