What Crossed’s New Cast Means For The Project

The Movie’s Production Is Now Well Underway

Whilesome audiences may be disappointed thatCrossed’s lead roles haven’t gone to more well-known actors, this is actually a great sign for the project. What makes Garth Ennis' works so entertaining is how complex yet familiar his characters are, as he draws on frequent everyman tropes while making each of his figures wholly unique.

This sense ofCrossed’s protagonists being normal people may have been lost with a more famous cast, but it’s something that director Rob Jabbaz can hopefully make work with his relatively unknown ensemble. While a show likePreacherwas very divisivebecause it didn’t always stay true to the spirit of Ennis' original comics,it seems likeCrossedis going down a more conventional road.

Our Take On Crossed’s Casting News

Avoiding An A-List Cast Was The Right Decision

Although it will still be a while before we see the results ofCrossed’s production, the announcement of the movie’s cast is a welcome sign that things are moving swiftly in the right direction.Jabbaz’s decision to cast relatively unknown actors in the lead roles is a refreshing one, likely taking a leaf out ofThe Boys' book, with names like Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty really breaking through in that project.

Garth Ennis' comics are very bold at times, and this has resulted in some polarizing on-screen adaptations, butCrossed’s cast seems to indicate that it could be an exception.

Jabbaz’s previous work onThe Sadnessproves that he’s a very ambitious and talented filmmaker with a clear, distinct style, which is exactly what projects likeCrossedneed for the page-to-screen adaptation to work.
