There’s hardly a comic fan alive that doesn’t loveNightwing. Decades ago, the first Boy Wonderstepped out of Batman’s shadowto become his own man. And through intense training and a relentless determination to better himself, he’s grown into a champion with skills that firmly put him alongside DC Comics’ other S-tier heroes.

Justlook at Nightwing’s history. Before he even worked with the Caped Crusader he was already honing his acrobatic skills alongside his mother and father at Haly’s Circus. And once he was taken under Bruce Wayne’s wing,Batman nurtured Grayson’s natural skills, allowing Robin to fight and defeat men twice his weight when he was only a kid.

Of course, Dick eventually left Batman’s tutelage, but that didn’t mean that he was done training. He was trained by other incredible heroes, like martial artist Richard Dragon and boxer Ted Grant, both of whom saw the raw talent Dick possessed. When it comes to battling non-powered humans, few people are a match for Nightwing, even the DCU’s best fighters.

Nightwing’s Training Has Made Him One of the DC Universe’s Greatest Heroes

From Batman to Richard Dragon, Dick Grayson Has Earned Everyone’s Respect

Now Nightwing is obviously much like his first mentor, Batman, and doesn’t any powers to his name. But despite the lack of superhuman abilities, that’s never stopped him from fighting strange or hostile threats with otherworldly or supernatural skills. Not to mention, Nightwing has even led teams of metahumans, and many in the hero community admire his leadership skills.

The question is, what does it really take to be an S-tier hero? Powers certainly aren’t a requirement (since Batman is obviously S-tier). But if one uses Batman as a blueprint, then it’s easy to see why Nightwing also belongs in that category. All of Batman’s best skills, from his fighting abilities to his innovation, are things Nightwing also has.

A Hero That’s Earned a Place Alongside Batman

Nightwing isn’t just the first Robin who grew up. He’s a hero that took everything he learned from Batman and used it as a launchpad to better himself. Dick trained tirelessly to improve his skills as a fighter and, as he got better, it sharpened his confidence and ultimately made him a leader on par with the Dark Knight.

Granted, everyone has their own ways of deeming which heroes are S-tier or not. But after looking at everything Dick has done in his life, its hard to say he’s not deserving of the highest praise. If anyone deserves to be among the upper echelon alongside Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, it’sNightwing.
