Breaking up the Trinity

Amiibo collectors know the pain of missing out on the “unicorn” characters — the figures that are so rare, you stand virtually no chance of finding them on a store shelf. Last November, the first wave brought us three of them: Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and Marth. However, one of those might be moving off the list.

Nintendo confirmed at today’s Direct that Marth would see a re-release in May. The companytweeted itat the beginning of March, but this solidifies everything. In Nintendo’s words “Don’t worry if you weren’t able to get a Marth amiibo; there are more coming in May.”

This restock is due to Marth’s appearance inCode Name: S.T.E.A.M.Of course, it’s unknown how widely available Marth will be come May. It’s also a mystery as to whether it’ll release on its own, or alongsidewave four on May 29. Whatever the case, those who don’t have him can take solace in knowing that he’s coming.
