The 62nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on January 27th at the Staples Center. During one of the acceptance speeches, a popular game system made an appearance on stage.
The Best Rap Album award was given to Tyler the Creator for his album,Igor.As Tyler the Creator accepted the award, he was joined by his mother, and longtime friend, Jasper Dolphin.

Jasper previously was a founding member of the rap group, Odd Future. He has worked with Tyler the Creator on many songs and business ventures. As he stood by Tyler the Creator on stage, Jasper was seen holding ahandheld Nintendo Switch. With a giant screen and red and blue accents, the Nintendo Switch is hard to miss.
The Switchhas become one of the most popular game systemssince its release in 2017. It is a hybrid system, which means it can be played as a stationary traditional system, or taken mobile as a handheld system. Jasper seemed like he was taking advantage of the handheld feature to entertain himself at the Grammys. Jasper took to Twitter to answer everyone’s question in the back of their minds: “What was he playing?”
Pokemon SwordandShieldcame out last year on Nintendo Switch. Since they are the latestPokemonrelease, he was most likely catching Pokemon in the Galar region, whereSwordandShieldtake place. Both Jasper and Tyler the Creator enjoy video games and cartoons.Tyler the Creator has been an avid supporter of skating game franchises, and has claimed that he learned how to skateboard fromTony Hawk Pro Skater 4. As a result of that, he was also added as a playable character inTony Hawk Pro Skater 5.
Nintendo did not issue a statement regarding its handheld console making a Grammys appearance. However, the company may be happy due to the amount of exposure and attention that the Switch was able to make. Just the appearance of the Switch alone is huge for Nintendo, but since Jasper tweeted thathe was playing Pokemon, that increases the attention even more.
