Remakes give players the chance to revisit the games they loved when they were younger through a fresh lens with some modern improvements. Nintendo has done remakes in the past, though those tend to be simple HD re-releases instead of full remasters. This lack of overhauling has inspired one fan to take it upon themselves to completely remakeThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timein the Unreal Engine 4, and they seem to be making wonderfulprogress over their earlier releases.

A video uploaded by YouTube user CryZENx shows off theOcarina of TimeUnreal Engine 4 remake, and it looks stellar. So far, CryZENx has finished several different areas of the game, including the Temple of Time and Kakariko.

What’s most impressive is how much detail exists in the world, the enemies, and the items. The lighting is also very impressive, as it adds a certain depth to Link’s character model that hasn’t been seen before. The physics of Link’s hair and cap are a bit janky at times, but even those are a pleasant touch to the character. CryZENxshowed off a video of Kokiri about a year ago, though it has since been removed by Nintendo. This new version is a lot smoother than what was shown then, though.

CryZENx is still working on bug improvements but has implemented a better targeting system than the one featured in previous versions. The game’s story also still needs plenty of work, but the user is hoping to chip away at it through 2019.

The remake is incredible, no doubt, but there’s a pretty high likelihood that Nintendo will shut down the project eventually. The company doesn’t tend to play well with others using their properties, like when a group of fans had their gameNo Mario’s Skyshut down by the gaming giant.

There’s no solid release date for the remake, but, hopefully, CryZENx will continue to upload fresh video updates and new demos.
