Square Enix has revealed its intentions to share a new trailer and announce the release date of its highly-anticipated game,Octopath Traveler Tairiku no Hashaon Sept. 18.
In a message shared viaOctopath Traveler’s Japanese Twitter account, it thanked eager fans for waiting for an update, acknowledging how they had been waiting for a “long time.” Alongside the announcement of a trailer and a release date, it also highlighted how it will be providing detailed information on the game itself.Octopath Traveler Tairuku no Hasha– which translates toOctopath Traveler Champions of the Continent –is aprequel to the popular Nintendo Switch role-playing game,Octopath Traveler. The game, which will be released on smartphones and run on iOS and Android, has already reached 500,000 pre-registered accounts as gamers continue to wait for its release.

Alongside the news that Sep. 18 will finally provide details and a release date, a new BGM music video was uploaded to celebrate and further hype fans. The theme is composed for one of the game’s antagonists, “The Playwright” Arguste.Octopath Traveler’s original composer, Yasunori Nishiki, returns to provide compositions forOctopath Traveler Champions of the Continent.
The game was initially announced back in March 2019 with intentions to release it by the end of that year. It was described as a single-player RPG that would provide a fully-developed narrative and mobile gaming experience that would take approximately 60 hours to finish, providing adetailed experience much like its predecessor,Octopath Traveler. AlthoughOctopath TravelerChampions of the Continentwas announced for release in Japan, there is currently no indication as to whether Square Enix intends to eventually deliver the prequel to Western fans.
