The original Japanese version ofthe 1000th episode ofOne Piecewas released as part of the anime’s 20th season. The episode was released on June 10, 2025. It might seem like a long time, but in the world of anime, the dub version of a series always comes quite some time after the official version. Publishers usually focus on delivering the subtitled version first. After all, dubbing requires a much longer time to complete, especially for a series with lots of episodes likeOne Piece.
As for the original Japanese version, the series is already at its 1064th episode, and it is still going strong. As a matter of fact, the anime is currently near the end of the Wano Country Arc, with Luffy battling against the captain of the Beast Pirates, Thousand Beast Kaido. With 173 episodes and counting, season 20 is by farthe longest season inOne Piece’shistory. However, sinceOne Piecealways focuses on one story arc per season, we can expect this season to end soon.
One Pieceis not the only anime that managed to hit the prestigious 1000th episode. On the contrary, there are dozens of anime series that manage toproduce way more episodes thanOne Piece, such asDoraemon(1787 episodes) orOyako Club(1,818 episodes). Some are still running to this day, such asCase Closed(1,085 episodes) orSazae-san(2,640 episodes). That being said,One Pieceis definitely the most popular one out of all of them, by far.
