Update:Ori and the Blind Forest’s sequel,Ori and the Will of the Wisps, has been officially announced.
More E3 2017 leaks have apparently revealed assets fromOri and the Blind Forest’s as-yet unannounced sequel,Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The title ofOri and the Will of the Wispswas leaked several months ago, though at the time the rumor could not be confirmed. However, this new leak goes a step further and provides actual in-game screenshots. These are likely official assets stemming fromMicrosoft’s upcoming E3 2017 press conference.
According to Indiannoobs, an anonymous Twitter user forwarded over a photo ofOri and the Will of the Wisps' title screen and mentioned that the game would debut during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference. They then followed up with in-game photos, including a shot featuring protagonistOri. The photos appear authentic, though neither image is particularly high quality and neither seems to show gameplay.
As ever, it’s worth being skepticalregarding rumors and leaks, especially in the weeks before and during E3. These images are low quality, which is historically a red flag when it comes to leaks, so it’s certainly possible that these pieces of art are fan-made.
Apart from the images, however, there’s plenty of reasons to believe this is the perfect time to announce anOrisequel:
There’s no real evidence to indicate that anOrisequel couldn’t be in development, while all the available evidence points that it is.
IfOri and the Will of the Wispsis indeed going to be revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference, it will join a line-up of titles like Crackdown 3, Forza Motorsport 7, Sea of Thieves, and BioWare’s newly announced Anthem. And knowing how gorgeous the originalOrigame was, the sequel will definitely fit in well with theunveiling of the Xbox Scorpioconsole and its 4K visuals.
If real, expect moreOri and the Will of the Wispsinformation during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference this afternoon.
