After weeks of speculation, Blizzard has finally confirmed thatOverwatchis getting a One Year Anniversary event. This event will bring with it three new maps for players to master, in addition to plenty of new cosmetic items to unlock. And according to the official BrazilianOverwatchFacebook page, some of these cosmetic items will include new dance emotes for some characters in the game.
Overwatch’s Brazilian Facebook page posted a video yesterday showcasing these dance emotes in action. While it’s possible that more characters in the game will receive dance emotes, the video confirms that Sombra, Lucio,Symmetra, and Zenyatta will be getting dance emotes at the very least.
What’s unclear about these dance emotes is if they’re exclusive to the One Year Anniversary Event, or if they will be a part of the new basic loot box items. For the uninitiated, with the One Year Anniversary event, Blizzard plans on adding new loot box items that aren’t tied to any specific in-game event, meaning players may have a chance to unlock the dance emotes at any time.
WithOverwatch’s One Year Anniversary event set to kick off next week, on May 23rd, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to learn more about the dance emotes. In the meantime, Blizzard should expand on other aspects of the event as well, including what new skins fans can expect to unlock during the festivities, and if there will be a new game mode, as rumored.
Of course, Blizzard could also just remain silent about theOne Year Anniversary eventright up until it launches this coming Tuesday. In fact, some fans may even prefer this approach, as it will make all the new unlockable items a surprise once the One Year Anniversary event goes live.
Tuesday, May 23rd is not far off, soOverwatchfans just need to be patient to learn more about everything it’s bringing to the table.
Overwatchis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
