The ever-evolving shooter experience that isOverwatchgot another big boost this week in its latest update. After spending about three weeks on the Public Test Region (PTR), the highly requestedFree-For-All and Team Deathmatch modeshave finally been added to the main game inside the arcade.

Deathmatch pits eight players against each other in a free-for-all style mode with anOverwatchtwist to the scoring system. One point is awarded to the player that manages to land the killing blow, though players will also lose a point for killing themselves with environmental of self-inflicted damage. First player to reach 20 points in total wins the match.

Team Deathmatch follows a similar pattern only the eight players have been grouped into two teams of four. The point scoring system remains the same as in deathmatch, though matches end when either team reaches 30 points. If Mercy is around, resurrected players (before going to respawn) will instead take their point back from the opposing team.

Along with the new modes, a brand new map has been added to the rotation called Château Guillard. This deathmatch only map is located in France and is the ancestral home ofWidowmakerand her family.  Château Guillard joins twelve other maps which have been tweaked by Blizzard with a brand new respawn system and restricted play zones to better fit the nature of these new modes.

While the update also includes quality of life updates to a few characters such as Widowmaker and Junkrat, it does not include the controversial changes to Mercy. While most fans regard this character as a pure healing class, Blizzard hasreworked her ultimate abilityto give her a buff that allows her to fly, chain her beams across multiple allies, and gains a damage boost to her gun without needing to reload. This replaces her mass resurrect ability, which has instead been made a normal move that lets her revive one ally every 30 seconds. For now, players can check out these changes exclusively on the PC test server.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
