Blizzard promisedOverwatchfans that 2018 would bring a lot of new content to the game and the company is getting ready to deliver on that. While the unannounced Hero 27 remains firmly within the community crosshairs, next week sees the addition ofthe long-awaited Blizzard World map. Blizzard has also begun teasing a fairly big cosmetic update as well and to celebrate its impending launch, the studio is revealing a new item each day with Pharah being the first big reveal.

Kicking off its dailyOverwatchreveals on Twitter is Pharah, who is sporting a brand new legendary skin called Asp Pharah. Based on the very short clip, the airborne hero is sporting golden armor inspired by the famous type of snake. In addition to a snake on her helmet and chest plate, her rocket launcher has also been modeled to resemble a giant snake head as well. The Egyptian flair also extends to the boost jets on her back, which now appear to be wings.

Based on the countdown, the cosmetic update is tied into the Blizzard World map release on January 23. In addition to Asp Pharah, the update has already been confirmed to contain new sprays and player icons, but what has many fans excited arethe Blizzard-inspired skinscoming to certain characters. Fans have previously seen characters like Widowmaker can become Nova from theStarCraftseries, Roadhog take on the appearance of The Butcher fromDiablo, and Torbjörn becomes Magni Bronzebeard from theWarcraftfranchise.

Though new skins are always appreciated by the community, many folks remain intrigued by the recent teases for the upcoming 27th hero. The unannounced character is featured in nearly all internal tests at this point, but what got the attention of the community in the first place is how impactful this character appears to be. In a recent interview, Jeff Kaplan revealed that thisupcoming hero will change the current metawithin the game. He declined to elaborate further, but it didn’t stop the fanbase from speculating on how current strategies could potentially change.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
