Author Rick Riordan addresses the future ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansbeyond season 3. The Disney+ series first premiered in late 2023, and thoughPercy Jackson and the Olympiansseason 2has not yet premiered, it has already been renewed for at least one additional run. This meansthe show will cover Riordan’s story through the third book,The Titan’s Curse. After that, there are two more books in the original series,The Battle of the LabyrinthandThe Last Olympian, though Riordan has continued Percy’s story through additional novels.
While responding to fan questions onGoodreads, Riordan talked about the likelihood ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansmaking it to seasons 4 and 5. He kept his answer careful yet optimistic, as it is too soon to say anything definitive, buthe feels good about the show’s progress. He also touched upon how fast seasons can be expected to be released. Check out his full answer below:

I’m guardedly optimistic about future seasons. No one knows the answer right now. It will depend on continued viewership, but we’re certainly off to a great start! All I can say for certain is thateveryone involved is hoping and assuming that we will have the full five-season arc, but we’ll just have to wait and see. As for how fast they will come out, the hope is certainly that we can pick up the pace of release dates, but a season still takes a long time to create, so I’m not sure exactly what that will look like.
What This Means For Percy Jackson And The Olympians' Future
Percy Jackson Is Off To A Very Good Start
Though television has become the go-to place for major fantasy adaptations in recent years, it does carry the threat of projects being canceled before they can tell their full story. For every smash hit likeGame of Thrones, there are others that ultimately fall short of their goals, such as Netflix’sShadow & Bone, which was axed before it was able to fully cover all of author Leigh Bardugo’s source material. As only one season ofPercy Jacksonhas aired, it’s hard to gauge its growth, butthe early signs are promising.
Percy Jackson and the Olympiansseason 1was the most-watched show on Disney+ in 2024, an impressive feat considering the streamer also had Marvel andStar Warstitles. Beyond that, the early season 3 renewal is a sign of Disney’s confidence inPercy Jackson’s future. Assuming the series doesn’t show any steep drop-off in viewership over the next two seasons, it seems very likely thatThe Battle of the LabyrinthandThe Last Olympianwill also be adapted in the future. As Riordan said, it all depends on continued viewership.

Our Take On Percy Jackson’s Future
I Really Hope It Makes It
As a fan of thePercy Jacksonbooks, I would love to see the show reach seasons 4 and 5, and I feel optimistic that it’ll get there. Season 3 is already an exciting prospect sinceThe Titan’s Cursehasn’t yet had a screen adaptation — unlike season 2’sSea of Monsters, which was previously made into a movie — but the idea of seeing Walker Scobell andthe rest of thePercy Jacksoncastcomplete their character arcs is one too good to pass up.Season 2 later this year will give a better indicationof whether Riordan’s full story will be told.
