Ever sincePokemon GOadded Team Rocket Grunts to the game, fans have been waiting for the Team Rocket leader Giovanni to pop up in the popular mobile game. The wait for Giovanni to come toPokemon GOis finally over, as the latest update has added Team Rocket’s head honcho, in addition to some of his higher ranking underlings.

The biggest addition of the newPokemon GOupdate is theLooming in the Shadows Special Research. This Special Research hasPokemon GOplayers once again doing battle with Team Rocket Grunts and purifying Shadow Pokemon. However, it also has players put together Rocket Radars, which is done using Mysterious Components. Mysterious Components themselves come from battling Team Rocket Grunts, soPokemon GOplayers will have to do a lot of battling to complete the new Special Research.

The Rocket Radars inPokemon GOwill lead players to Team Rocket Leaders, who are Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo. Players will have to defeat these Team Rocket Leaders to complete the Special Research so that they can fight Giovanni. There are other rewards for doing these battles, though, as Team Rocket Leaders actually drop the rareUnova Stones.

This means that the newPokemon GOupdate should make it a lot easier for fans of the game to get the Unova Stones they need to complete their Pokedex. The battle with Giovanni will also help fans complete their Pokedex, as fighting Giovanni will give them the chance to catch aShadow Legendary. In future, Giovanni battles will feature different Legendary Pokemon, but at the time of this writing, Articuno is the only Shadow Legendary that players can catch.

More updates are still planned forPokemon GOby the end of the year, but this one is likely the most substantial one that fans will see until 2020. The annualPokemon GOChristmas event is right around the corner, but otherwise fans should just have to worry about completing the Looming in the Shadows Special Research quest until 2020 brings with it more substantial new content.
