However, thePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC trailer that revealed this new content has come under fire for allegedly using music from a fan without their knowledge or permission. A fan musician by the handle of ND Music posted a rearrangement ofScarlet and Violet’s Area Zero theme last year, one that bears a striking similarity to the music used in yesterday’s official trailer. This has lead arguments over Nintendo or The Pokemon Company possibly using someone’s music without their permission.
ND Music isn’t bothered by the use of their Area Zero theme cover in the recentPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC trailer, instead expressing how surprised and honored they were to hear their work in official content. However, they did wish that The Pokemon Company had asked them about it beforehand. Based on the Twitter comments, many fans feel that the company should have at least credited ND Music for their work.
Assuming the accusation is accurate, it’s odd that a major company like The Pokemon Compnay would resort to using fan content for its newPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC trailer, as the company could surely have just used theactualScarlet and Violetmusic trackinstead.
