Resellers are listingPokemon TCG Classicsets on eBay with hefty price tags, and they are not even available to anyone yet. ThePokemon TCG Classicwill be released in November 2023 and is currently one of the most sought after sets that pay homage to its historical beginnings.
ThePokemon TCG Classicset is a timeless collection of reprints of Pokemon cards released back in the 90s. The set contains three 60-card decks featuring mainstay Pokemon Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard along with new cards Suicune ex, Lugia ex, and Ho-Oh ex. It also comes with deck boxes, card sleeves, and other tools for playing the trading card game, but this set can only be played casually as it is not allowed in tournaments. Similar to the recently releasedPokemon: Scarlet and Violet 151 Expansionfeaturing Generation 1 Pokemon, thePokemon TCG Classicmay have been created with nostalgic millennials in mind. This set’s pre-order was selling for $399.99 and sold out in minutes, and unlucky fans who didn’t get the chance to buy one yet may have to pay a ridiculous price for it.

ThePokemon TCG Classicset is going for nearly triple the price of its MSRP. Resellers quickly listed the set online even though they hadn’t received their set yet. ThePokemon TCG Classicrelease dateis on November 17.
Some Pokemon fans online have expressed that the original price for the set is absurd, especially for a self-contained set that is not tournament legal and is just for collecting purposes. Pokemon fans already saw the aftermath of the pre-orders coming, and it was to no surprise to most that this product would be scalped just like other Pokemon-related products such as aPikachu card sold on Facebook Marketplace signed by the Pokemon. However, the number of comments expressing disinterest in the set did not outweigh how successful the pre-order sales went for The Pokemon Company.
This hobby is filled with collectors determined to “catch em’ all,” so many Pokemon fans are willing to invest in this hobby. However, some fans may be getting priced out of it. While resellers are making room for new business endeavors in the space, somebusinesses are combating against Pokemon card scalpersafter the TCG experienced shortages of products.
ThePokemon TCG Classicset will be available on November 17.
