Even thoughPrey 2was canceled by Bethesda Studios, it seems that there’s still somethingnew in the works for thePreyfranchise. A retailer leaked a newPreygame for PlayStation VR, and fans are curious to see what this new title entails.
Fans ofPreyhave been waiting for a new installment to the franchise since the game came out. While Bethesda has released a newerPreyin 2017 that reimagined the world of the original 2006 title of the same name developed byHuman Head Studios, they’ve only released DLCs and off-shoot game modes for the franchise. This leaked game could give fans the fresh full-game content they’ve been hoping for.

On June 1, a retailer in the UK named ShopTo listed a newPreygame on their website, which seems like it would be exclusive to the PlayStationVR system. Since its initial posting, the UK retailer has taken down the link. If the link wasn’t posted in error, this could mean that fans of the franchise could be seeing a new game — or at least a repackaged VR version of the original — coming to stores soon.
Bethesda has ported a lot of its franchises to VR systems already, and the company has even previously published a VR extension forPrey. A PC/PSVR spinoff, calledTyphon Hunter, gives players a setting where they can run through VR escape rooms and play a game mode that takes after theGarry’s Mod Prop Huntgame, where players can turn into inanimate objects. If there is going to be a larger VR title for thePreyfranchise, it is more likely that it’s going to be a remake of the original game for the VR space than a new game, but fans can still dream of aPreysequel.
While thePreyDLCs that Bethesda have given the game brought new content, fans would be excited for a new game. SincePrey: Typhon Huntergives fans a glimpse of thePreysetting in virtual reality, it would be amazing to see what a full game in thePreyuniverse looks like through a VR headset.
Preyis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
