Ralph Macchio dropped some intriguing details aboutCobra Kai’s potential future, which made me wonder if the franchise might finally explore one character’s true karate potential.Cobra Kaiseason 6’s endingundoubtedly gave the Netflix series a satisfying closure. However, since the show had a massive roster, many of its character beats felt unresolved or unrealized even towards the end. WhileCobra Kai’s main charactersgot the endings they deserved, several others were seemingly left on the sidelines.
Fortunately, even thoughCobra Kaiended its run with season 6, it looks like the franchise will have more stories to offer in the near future. Although no official sequels or direct follow-ups toCobra Kaihave been confirmed, there have been talks about how the hit Netflix series could continue and expand its lore with potential spin-offs.Ralph Macchio, too, shared his insightson the show’s future by revealing everything he knows about what lies ahead. His statements made me believe that oneCobra Kaicharacter might finally get to prove themselves in a potential spin-off.

Ralph Macchio’s Cobra Kai Spinoff Tease Means A Robby & Tory Could Be Central To The Franchise’s Next Chapter
In a recent interview (viaNewport Beach TV Fest’sCobra Kaipanel), Ralpha Macchio said that even though it is not right to tease something about the franchise’s future until it has been confirmed,Cobra Kai’s creators are having conversations about expanding the show with follow-ups. He quoted that"The Miyagiverse is infinite and Cobra Kai Never Dies,“hinting at how the Netflix show could continue its run with many potential spin-offs. ConsideringCobra Kai’s massive roster, a potential spin-off could focus on myriad characters.
…Robby’s story in a potential follow-up could be about his complicated romantic history with Tory and growth as a fighter in the competitive world of combat sports.
Since Tory defeated a celebrity fighter like Zara Malik in season 6, her narrative in the spin-off could focus on her struggles with newfound fame and success. Similarly, Robby’s story in a potential follow-up could be about his complicated romantic history with Tory and his growth as a fighter in the competitive world of combat sports. With the two characters as its leads, the spin-off could head in several narrative directions and keep the ball rolling forCobra Kai.
A Cobra Kai Spinoff Could Finally Give Robby The Karate Tournament Win He Deserves
Robby Still Has No Tournament Wins Under His Belt
Given how Robby’s closing arc inCobra Kaiseason 6 was both emotional and cathartic, it would be unfair to say that the series nerfed him towards the end. However, it still bothers me that, despite being one of the best fighters in the series, Robby did not get one tournament win. In the first All-Valley tournament, an injury held him back from giving his best performance during the finals. To his dismay, he did not even have a coach on his side. Robby even reached the All-Valley tournament for the second time but lost against Hawk after getting distracted midway through his match.
Even during the Sekai Taikai, Robby’s nerves got the best of him as he struggled to put his best performance on display. When he finally returned to form,Axel Kovačević unfairly beat him by twisting his leg and injuring him. If it wasn’t for the injury, Robby might have had a shot at winning the Sekai Taikai. Hopefully, if aCobra Kaispin-off focusing on him sees the light of day, it will finally give him the tournament win he has deserved since the beginning of the series.
