With the remake ofResident Evil 2, Capcom was able to transform the classic survival-horror title into something familiar but still new. Out of all the monsters one will encounter inResident Evil 2, the new and improved version of Mr. X is probably one of the most unforgettable.

Because of Mr. X’s imposing nature mods typically swap out the character model with various, more amusing options likea creepy headless form of Sherry Birkin. However, a new mod takes it one step further and has replaced Mr. X with Thomas the Tank Engine. Although Thomas the Tank Engine is often seen in kids shows, his menacing smile and relentless pursuit of the player makes him a force to be reckoned with.

The new Mr. X mod was the work of a couple of modders named ZombieAli (who provided the model for Thomas) and DJ Pop (the creator of the X Gon' Give It To Ya mod). Players should remember that although Thomas the Tank Engine appears to be friendly with its never-fading smile, it will still actually inflict damage to the player similar to the attacks of Mr. X.

A few weeks ago, another mod was introduced inResident Evil 2that simulated an encounter with Nemesis, the iconic monster fromResident Evil 3. Although a character model of Nemesis wasn’t made for this particular mod, the modder used the super tyrant form of Mr. X and added the Nemesis soundtrack fromRE3.

Given the short campaign ofResident Evil 2remake, it is understandable that some modders have taken matters into their own hands to give the game a little more life. For those players who have already finishedResident Evil 2, Capcom has released a new DLC calledGhost Survivorsa couple of weeks ago. This new expansion tells the what if stories of some non-playable characters in the game such as Robert Kendo, Katherine Warren, a U.S.S. agent named Ghost, and the sheriff that players would have encountered at the beginning of the game.

Resident Evil 2Remake is available now for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
