It has only been a few days since theResident Evil2remake has been available, but there are already numerous players out there who have managed tohit S rank to unlock infinite ammo, and unlock the “true” ending. Now, attention is already turning toward what the future of the survival-horror franchise could hold, with many hoping that anRE3remake could be in the cards. As explained by theRE2remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, that very well could occur.
According to Hirabayashi, the reason why Capcom decided to remakeResident Evil2was due to the fact that the fans had made it well-known that that is what they wanted to see happen, with the publisher and developer then responding in kind. So, theRE2remake producer stated that if players liked the 2019 re-imagining of the 1998 survival-horror classic and want to seeRE3get remade, too, then the fans need to make their voices heard once again.

Interestingly enough, Capcom has already gone on record to state thatit wants to create more remakesafterResident Evil 2, with the company even extending this desire to re-imagining a glut of other titles from its back catalog. With this being the case, it opens the doors to the possibility of there not only being anRE3remake coming at some point down the line, but also aSuper Ghosts ‘n Goblinsremake, aDino Crisisremake, or even aPower Stoneremake.
While there’s seemingly limitless potential for Capcom to reshape and remold practically any of its older IPs for contemporary audiences to enjoy, the most logical remake for the company to undertake afterResident Evil 2is the third numbered entry in the survival-horror series. We’ve already made the case thattheRE3remake should come next, but now it looks like it’s up to the franchise’s fans as a whole to keep the ball rolling.
TheResident Evil2remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
