The Resident Evil series has been on fire lately, with at least two games officially in the pipeline. With leaks aboutgameplay and enemy types forResident Evil 8andResident Evil 3before that, it’s a good time to be aResident Evilfan, especially for the people who have signed up for the Resident Evil Ambassador Program.

This is not the first time this has happened, with the most recent playtesting sessions giving Ambassadors a chance to test outResident Evil Resistance. There is a good probability that the game the Ambassadors will get to play this time will turn out to beResident Evil Resistanceagain, perhaps with changes made after listening to feedback. Considering the fact that thatResident Evil Resistanceis an add-on toResident Evil 3, which is coming out in April, and the playtesting sessions are in March, it seems plausible that the sessions could be forResident Evil Resistancewith the express purpose of fine-tuning it before release.

The other possibility, thatResident Evil 8will be making an unexpected appearance, is certainly tantalizing, if a bit unlikely. It is probable that Capcom wants to make the game as polished as possible before letting any concrete part of it out to the public so the company can fall back on it if thenon-cannon prospects, likeResident Evil Resistance, don’t go over well.

The last possibility is, of course, that it will beResident Evil 3 Remakethat gets trotted out for a test run before its big release. How much of the game would be put on display at a playtesting event like these is uncertain, but it would certainly be a thrill if someone discovereda cool collectiblebefore the game even officially came out.

Resident Evil 3will release on April 3rd for PS4, PC, and Xbox One
